Satu Salo, born in Helsinki, Finland, studied at the Sibelius Academy and later in the Netherlands with Phia Berghout, gaining her diplomas at the Maastricht Conservatoire. From 1973 to 1982 she was solo harp with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra.
