Programme Note
Holy Trinity Church, Coventry and the Aural Histories: Coventry 1451-1642 project, based at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, warmly invite you to attend the closing concert of this three-year research project, which has been investigating the experience of music in Coventry’s historic sacred and civic spaces.

The concert will take place in Holy Trinity Church on Friday 12th September 2025 at 7.30pm and will last approximately one hour. The concert is free for all. Refreshments will be provided after. The Choir of Holy Trinity Church, directed by Alexander Norman, will be joined by members of His Majesty’s Sagbutts and Cornetts and the Binchois Consort to present a programme of music from two turbulent centuries of English history. The performance will be accompanied by visual imagery depicting Holy Trinity Church, St Michael’s Parish Church (the old cathedral), and St Mary’s Guildhall as they may have appeared at key points in time between 1451 and 1642. This event gives us the opportunity to celebrate a wonderfully fruitful collaboration between Holy Trinity Church and Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and we would be delighted to see you there.

Programme Note
This concert explores a rich tapestry of great choral music from across Europe. It includes beautiful sacred and secular pieces, including music by the early English master Dunstaple, the Italian Luca Marenzio, and Spaniard Francisco Guerrero. There are glimpses of the genius of Thomas Tallis and a chance to celebrate John Dowland, C.H.H. Parry, Arvo Pärt and Benjamin Britten. This is a wonderful collection of music for the soul, performed by luminatus professional vocal ensemble.
