Maho Ishizaka wins composition prize
The Peter Tranchell Foundation has awarded its 2025 Composition Prize to Maho Ishizaka. The Japanese composer, pianist and pedagogue receives the award for Tickle the Keys, her duet for piano and organ which draws inspiration from composer and foundation namesake Peter Tranchell’s comic operetta Twice a Kiss.
Ishizaka receives a prize of £500 and the premiere of her winning piece will be given by organist Tom Winpenny and pianist David Doidge on 18 April 2026 at St Paul’s Knightsbridge, London. The winner’s concert will also feature a performance of Twice a Kiss, performed by Michael Papadopoulos, Chris Purves, Tom Winpenny, David Doidge and Mary Bevan.
