Palindromic Prelude 10 The Recruit White in the Moon

John R. Williamson has a unique style of composition which he describes as 'palindromic.' His music is also in an English tradition and uses a modal language.

 

John R. Williamson has an entry in The British Contemporary Music Anthology 1996/7 for his song, The Ploughman.  Shortlisted/recorded at Jubilee Song Competition - EPSS/BMS, Bristol 2002.

 

His piano music has been performed at the British Music Information Centre; the Royal Northern College of Music; Chetham's Music School, Manchester; Chester; Rhyl and other N. Wales music clubs.

 

His work has been recorded by Nigel Shaw, baritone and John McCabe, piano.  Also by Murray McLachlan (piano); Ronald Frost (organ) and John Scott Trio. Three Songs are also recorded on the Campion Label with Mark Rowlinson (baritone) and Peter Lawson (piano). 2004

 

Reflections No.1, music for recorder and piano is included in the Trinity Examination Syllabus for 2003 - 2006

  • Awards:
    John Williamson was awarded third place in the 2004 English Poetry and Song Society competition for his two songs based on war poems of Siegfried Sassoon.  These were performed in Bristol on November 13th 2004.
