| About Satu | |
|
Satu Salo, born in Helsinki, Finland, studied at the Sibelius Academy and later in the Netherlands with Phia Berghout, gaining her diplomas at the Maastricht Conservatoire. From 1973 to 1982 she was solo harp with the Limburg Symphony Orchestra and teacher in two main schools. In 1982 she settled in Britain, where she works as a freelance musician with major British and European orchestras. |
|
| In the past few years Satu has regularly performed with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, and more recently also with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra including televised concerts. Notable CD recordings include Shostakovitchs two cello concertos with Arto Noras as soloist (available on Finlandia label). | |
| She has given workshops in Thurso at the North Lands Festival and for the Clarsach Society in Maidenhead. She has given recitals at Londons South Bank and other major concert venues. In December 2001, she gave a very successful performance of Britten's A Ceremony of Carols with the Bristol Cathedral Girls' Choir. Her interest in contemporary music has resulted in first performances of works by contemporary composers such as Ronald Stevenson and Usko Merilainen. She is also a much sought-after teacher, writer and broadcaster. | |
| Satu Salo also has a flute and harp duo with the flautist Alison Gent. They have given numerous recitals together and are available for functions. Satu Salo and husband, poet-translator, Keith Bosley, together offer a variety of words and music recitals. | |
