Antony Roper - Composer

Antony Roper studied music at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music, with war service in the Royal Navy in between.  Over the years, he has put his musical knowledge to use in teaching and journalism as well as in composition.

    Serenata Variata for Flute, Harp and String Trio
    Seven variations, five of which highlight separate instruments, and a fugal finale.  Premiered in 1986 by the distinguished ensemble Jeux, for whom the work was written.  In 1998, Jeux included it in a recital for the Birmingham Chamber Music Society in the Adrian Boult Hall. Christopher Morley of the Birmingham Post writes: "Handling the medium with flair and enthusiasm, Roper breathes a delightful Mercian lyricism."
