Cantate Domino
(18', 1995)
Double choir (SSAATTBB), organ and orchestra (3 trumpets, timps, percussion, harp) Goodmusic
Commissioned for the 1995 Shaldon Festival, this energetic work contains plenty of drama, a lyrical middle section ("O worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness"), and a Big Tune to finish.

Magnificat
(12', 1984)
Soprano solo, SATB and chamber orchestra (Alternative version with organ accompaniment) Goodmusic
Introduced in 1994, the concert version won immediate claim both in the UK and abroad. Soprano soloist launches the piece and features during the section "He remembering his mercy".
"... captured the combination of passion and serenity contained in St. Luke's timeless poem." (Western Morning News)

Nunc Dimittis
(8', 1984)
SSATBB, strings (or string quartet) Goodmusic
Concert version (without doxology) begins sotto voce in c minor, ultimately resolving in C major, repeating the words "depart in peace". Arch-like in design, the music rises to a sustained climax "and to be the glory of thy people Israel".
"striking new setting"
(Sacred and Profane, BBC Radio 3.)

Holy Innocents
(5', 1995)
SATB (unaccompanied) ANA Publishing

Two Carols
(2' and 3', 1993)
SATB or SA + keyboard Goodmusic
(Away in a Manger, I Saw Three Ships)
Upbeat versions; straightforward choral writing with adaptable keyboard accompaniments.

Nocturnes
(18', 1989)
SATB, string quartet and piano Marlborough Press
Settings of 'night' poems by William Barnes, Stephen Spender, Cole Porter, Edmund Blunden and Siegfried Sassoon.
"Shows his ability to establish mood with a minimum of resources. There is a peaceful almost sensual feel to Siegfried Sassoon's 'Slumber Song' ... while a completely different flirtatious dance phrase permeates Cole Porter's 'In the Still of the Night'." (Herald Express)

Missa Brevis
(1996)
SATB and organ ANA Publishing
"This work [Missa Brevis] must be a strong contender for inclusion in the canon of liturgical church music and the general choral repertoire." (Torquay Herald)

Magnificat and
Nunc Dimittis (1997)

Two Latin Motets SATB Marlborough Press
